Frequently Asked Questions

Only one color is low on our CLX-3305 — is a full set overkill?

Not necessarily, and the numbers explain why. The three colors are each rated at 1,000 pages and are spent together on every color page, so when one flags as low the other two are rarely far behind — they have lived the same life. This set replaces CLT-C406S, CLT-M406S and CLT-Y406S together and adds the longer-lived CLT-K406S black (1,500 pages) for $89.88, about $22.47 a cartridge. If the other colors genuinely are fresh — say, recently changed one at a time — a single cartridge listing may suit better; the set earns its place when the colors are ageing as a group.

Exactly which cartridges are included?

One CLT-K406S black rated at 1,500 pages, and one each of the CLT-C406S cyan, CLT-M406S magenta and CLT-Y406S yellow rated at 1,000 pages. The complete consumable set for the CLX-3305 — no separate drum exists on this platform, so nothing else is needed.

Can we fit only the empty color and shelve the rest?

Certainly. Swap the one the machine reports and keep the others sealed in the box; they store well in a cool, dry spot out of direct sunlight. Many owners do exactly this — the set is a stocking method as much as a fitting instruction.

Does the CLX-3305's copying wear the colors evenly?

Color copies spend all three color cartridges together, just as color prints do, so a copy-heavy machine ages them in step. Scanning spends nothing. Mono copying and printing draw only on the black, which is why it carries the bigger 1,500-page rating.

Which machines share this set with the CLX-3305?

Its own siblings first — the CLX-3305FN, CLX-3305FS, CLX-3305FW and CLX-3305W — then the wider CLT-406S family: CLX-3300, CLX-3302, CLX-3303, CLX-3303FW and CLX-3304, CLX-3306, CLX-3306FN and CLX-3306W, CLX-3307, CLX-3307FW and CLX-3307W, the CLP-360-series printers and the Xpress C410W and C460FW.

What cover do we get with the set?

A one-year warranty on all four cartridges, with returns free throughout the first year if any unit faults or fails to perform. The returns process is described on our shipping & returns page; support is available Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST; dispatch is from the Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia or California warehouse nearest to you.
