Frequently Asked Questions

How do I confirm the CF280X belongs in the M401dn?

Take the cartridge out of the printer and read its label — CF280X, the HP 80X, is the part number this model runs on. This listing is that cartridge as a single black unit at $32.59, rated at 6,900 pages. The spent unit's label settles the question every time.

What do I receive when I order this listing?

One CF280X cartridge, sealed in its protective sleeve inside one carton. It is the straightforward single for a shared printer: order it, drop it in, get the workgroup printing again.

How does a shared printer change the 6,900-page picture?

More hands means more pages and less warning. A networked machine serving a whole team can move through its rating briskly, and nobody owns the gauge — which is why this single is often bought the moment the low-toner warning appears on anyone's screen.

What does changing it take?

Open the top, pull the finished cartridge straight out, and unbox the fresh one. Rock it gently to level the toner, remove the sealing strip, slide it in until it clicks, and close the cover. The queue clears in about two minutes.

How can I tell the old cartridge is truly at the end?

Pages going evenly pale, a supply level resting at empty, and a warning that pops up for every user who prints. A rock of the old unit may buy a short reprieve; lasting greyness means it is done.

What protection is included?

The cartridge carries a 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns — a faulty unit is replaced or refunded without fuss. A person answers support questions Monday–Friday, 9 AM–5 PM CST.
