SCX-4729FW

The SCX-4729FW is the do-everything configuration: print, scan, copy, fax, and wireless networking in one monochrome unit. For a small office that wants a single machine handling every document task from anywhere in the room, this is the one.

Despite the feature list, it needs only the MLT-D103S or MLT-D103L cartridge. Compatible cartridges keep costs lean; genuine OEM cartridges keep it original. Both ship fast from Clever Supplies.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does the new MLT-D103S cartridge for the SCX-4729FW have an orange tab, and what do I do with it?

Do not worry if the first pages from a new MLT-D103S in the SCX-4729FW look slightly light; the toner needs a few pages to distribute fully. Print a few more and the density should come up. If ten pages in the output is still pale, reseat the cartridge and verify no seal remains. A new cartridge that stays light is uncommon — contact the supplier.

My SCX-4729FW keeps dropping its wireless connection - what usually causes that?

Join the SCX-4729FW to your network from the printer's panel or with the WPS button on the router, then print a network configuration page to confirm it got an IP address. Later dropouts most often come from a weak router signal, so keep the printer within good range. Since wireless trouble is never a toner issue, leave the MLT-D103S alone while troubleshooting the network.

Why would spots appear at evenly spaced intervals on pages from the SCX-4729FW?

On the SCX-4729FW, the toner cartridge supplies the powder while the imaging unit applies it to the page, so faded output with a full-feeling cartridge suggests the drum is near the end of its life. Check the printer's supplies status page, which tracks each part separately. Replacing only the MLT-D103S when the drum is worn will not fix streaks or fading.
