SL-M2875

Samsung's SL-M2875 is the workgroup multifunction of the '5/6' generation: print, scan, and copy with the stamina for shared daily use. It is built for the office where the MFP never really rests.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the drum and the toner cartridge in my SL-M2875, and how does each one affect print quality when pages start looking bad?

In the SL-M2875, the toner cartridge and the imaging drum are separate parts with very different replacement intervals. Drums typically outlast several toner cartridges, so most replacements you buy will simply be the MLT-D116S or MLT-D116L. Once you know which part does what, the right replacement is obvious.

My SL-M2875 will not print after I changed the toner — is it a seating problem or a chip issue?

Before suspecting the cartridge itself, remember the multifunction printer needs the chip aligned, the seals removed, and the cartridge clicked firmly home. Verify the box code matches the MLT-D116S / MLT-D116L family — a close-but-wrong code is a classic cause of 'incompatible cartridge' messages on the SL-M2875. Patience with the reinstall usually pays off immediately.

Why do pages from my SL-M2875 have a light gray background all over — is that too much toner or something else even with fresh paper?

When the whole sheet picks up a faint gray veil, the drum in the SL-M2875 is typically no longer wiping itself clean between pages. Try a new MLT-D116S if the current one is very old, since degraded toner can contribute — but if the haze survives a cartridge swap, the drum is the answer. Backgrounding only gets worse with time, so plan the drum replacement rather than living with it.
