Frequently Asked Questions

What should I check the moment this cartridge is delivered?

Three things, before the box goes on a shelf. First, the label: it should read CE390A, with 90A shown as the short series name — the two codes identify the same cartridge. Second, the carton itself: corners intact, no crush damage, no signs the box got wet. Third, the inner seal: the cartridge sits in an airtight bag with its protective tape in place. If all three check out, the unit is ready to store or fit.

The delivery arrived dented — can I still use the cartridge?

Usually, yes. The cartridge rides inside a sealed bag and a rigid shell, so a scuffed outer carton rarely means a damaged unit. Open it and look the cartridge over: no cracks in the housing, the shutter and drum surface untouched, the sealing tape still seated. If anything looks broken, photograph it and contact us before installing — a unit damaged in transit is covered, but only if it has not been run in the machine.

Where does the 90A name come in?

HP sells this cartridge under the full part number CE390A and the shorter 90A series name. Your M4555 supply label may use either. They are not two different cartridges and there is nothing to convert: an order placed under one name delivers the unit the other name describes.

How long can a checked, sealed cartridge wait before I fit it?

Months, comfortably. Kept sealed in its bag, stored flat in a dry room away from radiators and direct sun, a cartridge holds its toner in suspension and installs as fresh when the day comes. What shortens its useful life is a torn bag or a hot, damp shelf — not the calendar.

What does the delivery inspection have to do with the yield?

A cartridge that passes inspection delivers its full rating: 10,000 pages at standard coverage in the M4555. A unit that took a hard knock can leak or streak early, which is why the two-minute check at the door matters more than any test print later.

What cover do I have if something is wrong?

Every cartridge carries a 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns — a unit that arrives faulty, or fails well short of its rating, is replaced or refunded. Our support team answers Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST, and the shipping & returns page explains the process step by step.
