Frequently Asked Questions

Which cartridge does the base M4555 take — and how do I verify it?

Look at the code on the cartridge inside the machine: the M4555 uses the CE390X high-yield unit, also labeled 90X. This listing is that cartridge — one sealed black unit rated at 24,000 pages. Matching either code confirms you have the right supply.

On a multifunction machine, what actually consumes the toner?

Printing and copying. Every page the M4555 prints from a computer and every copy it produces draws on this cartridge, while scanning to email or folder uses no toner at all. If your M4555 spends half its day as a copier, count those copies when estimating how long 24,000 pages will last.

Is changing the cartridge on an MFP more involved than on a plain printer?

It is the same simple routine. Open the top cover, lift out the old cartridge, remove the sealing strip from the new CE390X, slide it in until it seats, and close the cover. No scanner or document-feeder parts are disturbed, and the machine is ready again in about two minutes.

How can I tell the cartridge is ending rather than the machine developing a fault?

A dying cartridge fades evenly — text grows lighter across the whole page while the machine runs quietly as usual. Streaks in one fixed position, repeating marks or error messages point to the machine instead. A gentle rock of the cartridge that restores density for a while confirms it is the supply running low.

Does this cartridge fit the other M4555 versions?

Yes — the whole M4555 series, including the LaserJet M4555, uses this cartridge, as do the LaserJet Enterprise 600 printers. One spare therefore covers every configuration of the family.

What warranty and returns terms apply?

The cartridge carries a 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns, and support is available Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST. A unit that arrives damaged or fades far short of its rating is replaced or refunded.
