Frequently Asked Questions

Why does this page list two part numbers, CE390X and 90X?

Because the cartridge carries both. CE390X is the complete part number; 90X is the shortened form used on labels, in printer menus and in most purchase orders. For the M603dn they identify one and the same high-yield black cartridge, so matching either code is a correct match.

The M603dn is the fastest printer in its series — how long does one cartridge last at that pace?

The cartridge holds 24,000 pages regardless of speed; what speed changes is the calendar. A high-throughput M603dn can work through pages quickly, yet even in a heavy billing or dispatch environment that rating usually translates into weeks of output between changes rather than days.

Can a cartridge be changed in the middle of a long print run?

Yes. When output fades mid-run, pause the work, open the top cover, swap in the new CE390X and close up — the printer picks the job back up. Pages already printed stay printed; only the faded ones need reprinting once the fresh cartridge is in.

Does duplex printing on the M603dn reduce what I get from the cartridge?

The 24,000-page rating counts each printed side. Two-sided work therefore uses the rating at the same rate per page while halving paper consumption — the saving shows up in the paper budget, and the cartridge still delivers its full page count.

What is the correct way to store the spare for a machine this busy?

Sealed, flat and at room temperature, away from direct sunlight. The cartridge only starts its working life when the sealing strip is pulled at fitting time, so a spare bought alongside the installed unit waits in perfect condition until the M603dn calls for it.

What protection does the purchase include?

A 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns, with support available Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST. A cartridge that arrives damaged or fades well short of its rating is replaced or refunded under those terms.
