Frequently Asked Questions

The check printer sits in a branch office — what should the branch keep on hand?

This MICR cartridge, fitted only for check runs, plus its standard counterpart for the rest of the month. On the LaserJet Enterprise 600 M602n, the magnetic CE390X (90X) is the one supply a branch cannot improvise at short notice, because ordinary toner cannot print a readable check line.

How will the branch know the cartridge is running low?

The M602N reports its supply level on its status page, visible over the network — whoever monitors supplies centrally can watch the MICR unit's level alongside the standard one and ship a replacement before the branch discovers an empty printer on payday. Each cartridge is rated at 24,000 pages.

What does MICR toner do that regular toner cannot?

It is magnetic, so the coded digits along the bottom of a check can be sensed by bank equipment. A check printed with standard toner looks identical to the eye and fails at the reader — which is why the test below matters.

How should a branch validate the setup?

There is no cartridge-level guarantee of bank acceptance. Print test checks on the branch's own check stock and send them to the bank for confirmation before the first live run; repeat whenever the stock changes.

Can head office order this together with the branch's standard cartridges?

Yes — it is a regular line item in the same CE390X family, simply specified as the MICR version. Ordering both together keeps the branch's check capability and its everyday printing on one replenishment cycle.

What cover does the branch get?

A 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns, with support reachable Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
