Frequently Asked Questions
How do the M602X's extra trays help a check workflow?
They let the machine hold check stock permanently. On the LaserJet Enterprise 600 M602x, one tray can stay loaded with checks while the others carry letter and legal paper — so a check run means fitting this MICR cartridge (CE390X, the magnetic 90X) and selecting the check tray, not re-loading paper.
Does the tray arrangement change which cartridge fits?
No. Trays are paper handling; the cartridge bay is unchanged. This unit is the standard CE390X format with magnetic toner, rated at 24,000 pages.
What does the magnetic part actually accomplish?
The digits along the bottom of a check — routing, account, check number — are printed in MICR toner so bank readers can sense them magnetically and sort the check automatically. Print that line in ordinary toner and the check must be handled as an exception.
Is acceptance by our bank assured?
It cannot be assured by any cartridge. Stock, printer condition and the bank's own equipment all play a part. Print test checks on your own check stock and get your bank's confirmation before a production run; re-test when the stock changes.
What stops someone printing a report on the check stock?
Routing discipline: everyday jobs should default to the letter trays, and the check tray should be selected deliberately for check jobs only. The cartridge swap reinforces the same habit — MICR fitted means checks are the business of the hour.
What warranty and returns apply?
A 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns. Questions are handled Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
About This M602X MICR Cartridge
This MICR cartridge (CE390X / 90X), priced at $194.41, pairs with the M602X's tray capacity to make check printing a standing capability rather than a setup project: checks live in their tray, and this 24,000-page magnetic unit drops in when they run. Orders ship from warehouses in IL, PA, GA and CA; delivery and returns are set out on the shipping & returns page, and the wider range is under HP.
