Frequently Asked Questions

Walk me through fitting this cartridge in the LaserJet M601.

Lift the M601's top cover. Grip the old cartridge by its handle and slide it up and out. Unpack the new CE390A, rock it gently end to end several times, and pull the sealing tape out from the side in one steady motion. Slide the cartridge down the bay guides until it seats with a click, then close the cover. The printer returns to ready on its own — no settings to touch.

I pulled the tape and some toner puffed out. Is the cartridge ruined?

No. A small puff of toner when the seal breaks is normal and harmless to the cartridge. Shake any loose powder off over a bin — never blow into the unit — and fit it as normal. If the tape itself snapped mid-pull, draw the rest out slowly by the loose end before fitting.

How long does the swap actually interrupt work?

About two minutes, and jobs already queued simply wait. The M601 holds its queue while the cover is open; close it and printing resumes from where it stopped. Most offices swap mid-morning without telling anyone, and nobody notices.

What does the cartridge deliver once fitted?

The full rating: 10,000 pages at standard coverage from a full-capacity unit. The 90A name on the box and the CE390A part number describe the same cartridge, so whichever code your reorder list carries, this is the unit that arrives.

Should I keep the old cartridge until the new one proves itself?

For a day, yes — it costs nothing. If the new unit showed any problem, the old one (with its last reserve shaken loose) can bridge while you talk to us. Once the new cartridge has printed cleanly through a normal day, recycle the empty through your building's usual route.

What support stands behind the install?

A 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns on the cartridge, and a support team available Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST if the first pages are anything other than clean. Delivery and returns details are on the shipping & returns page.
