Frequently Asked Questions

What does CF281X mean on the M630f's supplies screen?

It is the part number of the black cartridge the machine is asking for — the high-yield 81X unit rated at 25,000 pages. The Enterprise MFP M630f takes the same cartridge across its print, copy and fax work.

Our fax line is busy all day. Do received faxes use this cartridge?

Yes. A received fax is printed in black from the CF281X, so a department that lives on fax traffic spends toner even on days when nobody sends a print job. That is the usual explanation when the level drops "by itself" over a weekend of incoming faxes.

Do scans sent to email consume any toner?

None. Scanning digitises the page; nothing is printed. Toner leaves the cartridge only when paper comes out — prints, copies and received faxes.

Copies are coming out grey, but prints from my PC look fine. Cartridge or machine?

Start with the scanner glass and the document feeder's strip — a smudge there greys every copy while prints stay clean. If copies and prints both fade, then the cartridge is the suspect and a gentle side-to-side rock is the first test.

The low warning appeared in the middle of a heavy fax morning. What now?

Keep going — the warning is a heads-up, not a halt, and the machine will print until quality genuinely falls away. Swap in the spare when the run eases, or when output turns visibly light, whichever comes first.

What cover applies to this cartridge?

It carries a 1-year warranty with 1-year free returns; our shipping and returns page explains the steps. Deliveries leave from Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia or California, and you can reach support Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
