Frequently Asked Questions

Which cartridge fits the M630h?

The CF281X, HP's high-yield black for the 81X family, rated at 25,000 pages. Order by that code and the Enterprise MFP M630h on your floor gets exactly the supply its panel asks for.

Our M630h mostly makes copies. Does copying shorten cartridge life compared with printing?

The rating counts printed pages, and a copy is a printed page — the machine cannot tell the difference, and neither can the cartridge. A copy-heavy M630h will simply reach the end of its 25,000 pages sooner in calendar terms than a print-only machine.

We archive boxes of paperwork through the scanner. Does that touch the toner?

No. Archiving scans paper into files; nothing is laid onto a page. Toner is spent only on output — prints, copies and received faxes — so a day of pure scanning leaves the level exactly where it started.

Output fades partway through a long copy run. Swap now or finish the run?

Finish only if the pages stay acceptable; a fade that begins mid-run rarely recovers on its own. The practical habit on a shared machine is to swap before a long run starts — a fresh cartridge is cheaper than re-copying two hundred pages.

On a shared corridor machine, who notices when toner runs low?

Often nobody, until output fails. The fix is procedural: check the supplies percentage on the panel or web server weekly, and keep one sealed CF281X in the cabinet beside the machine so whoever finds it low can solve it on the spot.

What backing does this cartridge carry?

A 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns, set out on our shipping and returns page. Stock ships from Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia or California, and the support desk answers Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.

About This Cartridge for the M630h

Departmental multifunctions earn their keep in copies as much as prints, and this is the cartridge that keeps an M630h doing both — one black unit, a 25,000-page rating, $59.12. It sits in the HP toner cartridges range at Clever Supplies alongside the rest of the M630 series' supplies, all reordering under the same CF281X code.
