Frequently Asked Questions

What cartridge fits the M606dn?

The CF281X — HP's high-yield black for the 81X family, rated at 25,000 pages. The Enterprise M606dn named here runs on that code; match it to the label of the cartridge you remove.

This is the fastest printer in its family. Does it burn toner faster per page?

Per page, no — a page spends the same toner at any speed. Per day, absolutely: a machine that prints more pages simply reaches the end of the cartridge sooner on the calendar. Plan swap intervals by page count, not by the clock.

How does duplexing figure into the yield?

The rating counts printed pages, and duplex pages are printed pages. The M606dn's automatic two-sided printing saves paper and tray refills; the cartridge's 25,000 pages are spent at the same rate either way.

Our peak days are brutal. How do we avoid a mid-peak stoppage?

Check the supplies percentage the day before a known peak and swap early if it is low. On the fastest machine in the building, a cartridge that looks "good for a while" on Monday can be the bottleneck by Wednesday.

Can the level be checked centrally?

Yes — the embedded web server reports it to any browser, and fleet tools read the same data. A weekly sweep of percentages across machines is how most administrators keep every high-volume printer a step ahead of empty.

What warranty and shipping terms apply?

The cartridge is covered by a 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns; see our shipping and returns page for the process. Stock leaves from Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia or California, and support hours are Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
