Frequently Asked Questions

Prints from our Xpress M2870FD carry the same mark down every page - is this cartridge the culprit?

Probably not. A defect that repeats at the same spacing down the sheet, unchanged after swapping or rocking the cartridge, points at the separate MLT-R115 imaging drum rather than the toner. Toner trouble looks different: an even fade across the whole page. This cartridge replaces toner only, so use the pattern to decide which part is really asking for attention.

What does an even fade that comes back after rocking the cartridge mean?

That the MLT-D115L is at the end of its fill. Rocking side to side levels the remaining powder and buys a short run of darker pages; when the fade returns within a few sheets, the powder is spent rather than settled. That is the reliable change signal - more trustworthy than the printer's early low-toner warning.

How far does 3,000 pages stretch in a machine that also prints incoming faxes?

Count everything the machine prints, not just what you send to it. An Xpress M2870FD turning out 700 pages a month across documents and received faxes gets a little over four months from one cartridge. Fax-heavy days are invisible in most people's estimates, which is why cartridges seem to finish early in fax-fed offices.

What does this cartridge cost per page in the M2870FD?

The cartridge is $37.06 and rated at 3,000 pages, which works out near 1.24 cents a page for toner. Dense fax pages and bold letterheads push real-world yield down a little; ordinary correspondence usually lands close to the rating. Either way the per-page figure stays well under what the standard-yield sibling cartridge delivers.

Which other Samsung models run on the MLT-D115L?

Alongside the Xpress M2870FD's platform mates: the Xpress M2620, Xpress M2670, Xpress M2820, Xpress M2880FW and Xpress M2830 DW, and the SL-M2820DW, SL-M2830DW, SL-M2870FW, SL-M2880FW and SL-ML2830DW. If your office mixes these machines, one cartridge type - and one spare on the shelf - serves them all.

What cover does the M2870FD's cartridge carry if something goes wrong?

Each cartridge is backed by a 1-year warranty and free returns for a full year. A unit that leaks, streaks or underperforms inside that period comes back at no cost to you; the details live on the shipping and returns page. Support runs Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST, and stock ships from our IL, PA, GA and CA warehouses.
