Frequently Asked Questions

The printer asks for an MLT-D115L - is this the cartridge it means?

Yes. MLT-D115L is the part number for Samsung's high-yield black cartridge for this generation of printers, and this listing is the compatible version of exactly that cartridge, specified for the SL-M2820DW. If the number on your old cartridge or in the manual reads MLT-D115L, this is the replacement it is asking for.

What does the high-yield fill give an SL-M2820DW in practice?

Up to 3,000 pages from one cartridge, so a printer producing 500 pages a month goes about six months between changes. The rating is measured at standard coverage; everyday correspondence tracks it well, while coverage-heavy documents - dark forms, big graphics - spend the fill faster. Fewer, longer-lived cartridges also mean fewer interruptions mid-job.

How much does each page from the SL-M2820DW cost with this cartridge?

It is priced at $37.06 and rated at 3,000 pages, which is roughly 1.24 cents a page for toner. That is the honest comparison figure: divide any cartridge's price by its rated yield and the cheaper page wins. On that measure the high-yield MLT-D115L beats its standard-yield sibling comfortably for any printer in regular use.

Which other Samsung printers use the MLT-D115L?

The same cartridge serves the Xpress M2620, Xpress M2670, Xpress M2820, Xpress M2870, Xpress M2880FW and Xpress M2830 DW, and the SL-M2830DW, SL-M2870FW, SL-M2880FW and SL-ML2830DW alongside this SL-M2820DW. Homes and offices running several of these machines can keep a single cartridge type - and a single spare - for all of them.

MLT-D115L or MLT-D115S - how do I choose next time?

By volume. The MLT-D115S is the standard-yield version with a smaller fill; it suits a printer that wakes up only occasionally. The MLT-D115L in this listing carries the full 3,000-page fill, lasts far longer between changes and works out cheaper per page. If your SL-M2820DW prints most days, the L is the right default; the S is for genuinely light duty.

If this cartridge fails, what cover do we fall back on?

A 1-year warranty and free returns for one year. A cartridge that leaks, streaks or fails inside that period returns at no cost to you; the route is described on the shipping and returns page. Help is available Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST, and orders leave from our warehouses in IL, PA, GA and CA.
