Frequently Asked Questions

The ML-2525W prints only a few times a week — is a high-yield cartridge overkill for it?

Not really, because the usual objection to buying big does not apply here. This MLT-D105L gives the lowest cost per page of the cartridges that fit the machine — about 1.58 cents — and its 2,500 pages do not spoil while they wait. Light use simply means one purchase covers a very long stretch of occasional printing.

Will toner go bad sitting inside a rarely used printer?

Toner is a dry powder, so the inkjet failure modes — drying out, clogging while idle — do not exist here. After a long gap the first page can occasionally look a touch light as the powder settles; printing a couple of pages, or rocking the cartridge gently, sets it right. Keep the paper dry and the machine is ready whenever you are.

What does occasional printing cost per page on the ML-2525W?

The same as heavy printing: the cartridge is $39.40 for up to 2,500 rated pages, so each page carries roughly 1.58 cents of toner whenever it happens to be printed. There is no standby consumption and no penalty for spreading those pages across a year or more.

Which other machines share this cartridge?

The MLT-D105L also belongs to the SCX-4600 and the SCX-4623F, SCX-4623FN and SCX-4623FW multifunctions, to the ML-1910, ML-1915, ML-2525, ML-2545 and ML-2580n printers alongside this ML-2525W, and to the SF-650 fax machine. If another of those machines is ever added, the same spare already covers it.

Output from the ML-2525W looks gray rather than black — what should we check first?

Start with the toner-save or eco setting in the print driver: switched on, it lightens every page by design, and switching it off restores full density. If that setting is already off and output has faded evenly over time, the cartridge is nearing the end of its pages and a fresh MLT-D105L is the answer.

What cover does this cartridge come with?

A 1-year warranty, plus free returns for a year from purchase — the same cover as on our busiest office cartridges. Details live on the shipping and returns page, and support is reachable Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
