Frequently Asked Questions

Which printers use the T312XL320 magenta?

Expression Photo HD XP-15000 and Expression Photo XP-8500, XP-8600 and XP-8700. Epson's official tables carry the same magenta code for both layouts of the family.

How many pages should I expect from it?

Epson doesn't rate magenta on its own. The family's colour rating is a composite — 830 pages for the XL colour set on ISO/IEC 24711 — shared across colours and dependent on what you print. Anyone quoting you an exact per-colour magenta figure is guessing.

Magenta or light magenta — are they interchangeable?

No. Magenta (T312XL320-S) is a core colour in all four printers. Light Magenta (T312XL620-S) is a separate paler cartridge found only in the XP-8500, XP-8600 and XP-8700 — different slot, different ink, not a substitute.

Is the ink dye-based?

Yes — Claria Photo HD dye, like all six colours in both layouts. Dye ink is what gives these photo printers their glossy colour range.

Does it carry a chip?

Yes, a new compatible chip that reports ink levels. This cartridge carries a new compatible chip. If your printer's firmware has been updated, recognition issues can occasionally occur — reseat the cartridge and restart the printer before assuming a fault.

The printer flagged the new magenta as not recognised. Help?

Power off, take the cartridge out, check the chip contacts, reseat until it clicks, and restart. Firmware updates are the common trigger for false warnings; if it persists, contact us — the lifetime warranty covers it.

Can this XL magenta sit next to standard-capacity cartridges?

Yes. Slots are independent, so XL and standard 312 cartridges mix freely in the same printer.

Is this an Epson-made cartridge?

No — a Clever Supplies compatible built to the T312XL320-S specification and labelled compatible on the box and this page.

Why is the millilitre volume blank?

Epson's official documentation for this family states no mL volume, so we leave the field blank rather than publish an unverified reseller figure.

Will it fit a European XP-8600?

No. European models are coded for the 378/478 family; this is a US-region 312XL cartridge with a US chip.

What does the lifetime warranty actually cover?

A cartridge that fails to perform — recognition failure after troubleshooting, leaking, poor output from new — is replaced. Free returns apply within the first year.

Single magenta or a full set?

Single if magenta alone is low. When several slots are close, the Set of 6 matched to your layout — Gray/Red for XP-15000, Light Cyan/Light Magenta for the XP-8500 series — or the bulk Set of 13 is the cheaper route per cartridge.
