Light Magenta is the portrait photographer's cartridge in this family — the pale ink that keeps faces and pastel tones smooth instead of grainy. Our compatible T312XL620-S fits the Expression Photo XP-8500, XP-8600 and XP-8700, and only those three: the Expression Photo HD XP-15000 has no Light Magenta slot (its finishing pair is Gray and Red, 314XL), so this cartridge is not an XP-15000 product however similar the family name sounds.

It is a Claria Photo HD dye cartridge with a new compatible chip for ink-level reporting. On yield, this page follows Epson's own presentation: there is no per-colour Light Magenta figure — colour output is rated as a composite, 830 pages for the XL tier across the colour set (ISO/IEC 24711). Stated honestly on chips: this cartridge carries a new compatible chip. If your printer's firmware has been updated, recognition issues can occasionally occur — reseat the cartridge and restart the printer before judging it. The rest of its layout is T312XL120-S black (up to 500 pages), T312XL220-S cyan, T312XL320-S magenta, T312XL420-S yellow and T312XL520-S light cyan.
Covered by our lifetime warranty, with free returns for the first year. A Clever Supplies compatible for US-region printers — not genuine Epson, and not coded for European 378/478 models.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which printers use the T312XL620 Light Magenta?
Expression Photo XP-8500, XP-8600 and XP-8700. The XP-15000 takes Gray and Red in its last two slots instead, so this cartridge does not fit it.
Light Magenta vs Magenta — what's the difference?
Magenta (T312XL320-S) is the full-strength core colour in every model of the family. Light Magenta is a paler ink, used by the XP-8500 series for smooth pale tones — different slot, different ink, not interchangeable.
How many pages does it print?
Epson publishes no per-colour number. The family's colour yield is a composite — 830 pages for the XL tier (ISO/IEC 24711) across the colour set — so the yield field here is blank and the composite is stated as a composite.
Does this cartridge have a chip?
Yes — a new compatible chip that reports ink levels. This cartridge carries a new compatible chip. If your printer's firmware has been updated, recognition issues can occasionally occur; reseating and restarting clears most false warnings.
A warning appeared right after a firmware update. Is the cartridge bad?
Probably not — that timing points at the update. Power off, reseat the cartridge until it clicks, and restart. If the warning persists, contact us; the lifetime warranty covers a cartridge that fails to perform.
Can I mix this XL cartridge with standard-capacity ones?
Yes. All six slots are independent, so XL and standard 312 cartridges can be mixed in the same XP-8500-series printer.
Is this genuine Epson ink?
No. It is a Clever Supplies compatible built to the T312XL620-S specification, labelled compatible on the box and on this page.
Why is there no millilitre volume listed?
Epson's official documentation for this family states no mL volume, so the field is left blank rather than filled with an unverified figure.
Will it work in a European XP-8700?
No — European models take 378/478 region-coded cartridges. This is the US 312XL version.
What does Light Magenta actually improve?
Pale magentas — skin tones, sunsets, pastel fabrics — print with finer, less visible dots because the printer can lay down a genuinely lighter ink instead of spacing full-strength magenta dots apart.
What if it prints poorly from new?
Run one head-cleaning cycle; if output is still poor, that is a cartridge fault and it is replaced under the lifetime warranty. Free returns apply within the first year.
Single or set?
The single when this slot alone is low. The XP-8500-series Set of 6 replaces all six slots at once, and the bulk Set of 13 (three blacks, two of every colour) suits regular photo printing.
