XP-8600
Ink for the Expression Photo XP-8600 is the Epson 312 family — six individual Claria Photo HD dye cartridges, with light magenta (T312XL620) and light cyan finishing the layout. The Clever Supplies compatible 312XL cartridges below rate black up to 500 pages, are chipped for ink-level reporting, and carry a lifetime warranty.

XP-8600 Ink Cartridges — 312XL, All Six Colours
The XP-8600 sits in Epson's official 312 roster alongside the XP-8500 and XP-8700: the same six codes in standard and XL, the same dye ink set. Our shelf carries the XL tier — T312XL120 black, T312XL220 cyan, T312XL320 magenta, T312XL420 yellow, T312XL520 light cyan and T312XL620 light magenta. Black runs up to 500 pages, and colour yield is Epson's composite figure for the tier, 830 pages across the colour set (ISO/IEC 24711), because the family has no official per-colour ratings to quote.
The XP-8600's one classic mix-up is its wide-format cousin: the XP-15000's gray and red cartridges are not XP-8600 cartridges, even though both printers wear the 312 family name. Badge first — XP-8600 means the six cartridges on this page, the Set of 6, or the bulk Set of 13.
The same 312XL shelf serves the whole family roster — XP-15000, XP-8500, XP-8700 — so one cartridge list covers every model on it, and a spare bought for any of them fits the rest. The dye set is built for photographs: the two light colours exist to smooth gradients in skin tones and skies, work that shows best on photo paper and makes this family a photo shelf first and a document shelf second.
Which 312XL should you buy?
- One colour ran out: replace just that slot — black is $20.99; each colour, light colours included, is $17.99.
- Full six-colour reset: the Set of 6 ($98.91) puts one of every cartridge in a single box.
- Stocked photo shelf: the Set of 13 ($194.81) carries three blacks and two of every colour.
Chip, ink and everyday use
Every cartridge carries a new compatible chip for ink-level reporting. Epson rates this family's colour output as a composite across the colour set, so no per-colour page counts appear here — none are published. The dye inks, light colours included, do their best work on photo paper; keep spares sealed until install day. Lifetime warranty and 1-year free returns cover every cartridge.
