XP-8500 Ink — The Full 312XL Shelf
Epson's official cartridge table for the XP-8500 is a single, complete 312 set: standard T312120–620 and high-capacity T312XL120 black, T312XL220 cyan, T312XL320 magenta, T312XL420 yellow, T312XL520 light cyan and T312XL620 light magenta — six dye cartridges, with light cyan and light magenta doing the gradient work that makes this a photo printer. We stock the XL tier: black up to 500 pages, and colour output stated as Epson states it, an 830-page XL composite across the colour set (ISO/IEC 24711). No per-colour page counts appear on this page, because Epson publishes none for this family.
One family boundary matters here. The XP-15000 shares the 312 name and the four core colours, but its last two slots are gray and red — those cartridges do not fit this printer, and listings that offer them 'for XP-8500' are wrong. On this page: six XL singles, the Set of 6 and the bulk Set of 13, nothing else.
The same 312XL shelf serves the whole family roster — XP-15000, XP-8600, XP-8700 — so one cartridge list covers every model on it, and a spare bought for any of them fits the rest. The dye set is built for photographs: the two light colours exist to smooth gradients in skin tones and skies, work that shows best on photo paper and makes this family a photo shelf first and a document shelf second.
Which 312XL should you buy?
- One colour ran out: replace just that slot — black is $20.99; each colour, light colours included, is $17.99.
- Full six-colour reset: the Set of 6 ($98.91) puts one of every cartridge in a single box.
- Stocked photo shelf: the Set of 13 ($194.81) carries three blacks and two of every colour.
Chip, ink and everyday use
Every cartridge carries a new compatible chip for ink-level reporting. Epson rates this family's colour output as a composite across the colour set, so no per-colour page counts appear here — none are published. The dye inks, light colours included, do their best work on photo paper; keep spares sealed until install day. Lifetime warranty and 1-year free returns cover every cartridge.
