Frequently Asked Questions

What exactly is in the bulk Set of 13?

Thirteen XL cartridges: 3× T312XL120-S black, 2× T312XL220-S cyan, 2× T312XL320-S magenta, 2× T312XL420-S yellow, 2× T312XL520-S light cyan and 2× T312XL620-S light magenta — two full XP-8500-series layouts plus a spare black.

Which printers does it serve?

Expression Photo XP-8500, XP-8600 and XP-8700. It does not serve the XP-15000, whose finishing pair is Gray/Red — that printer's bulk box is the XP-15000 Set of 13.

Why three blacks?

Black is the fastest-emptying cartridge in mixed document-and-photo use. The 3-black mix keeps the most-swapped slot stocked without buying a second full set.

What yields should I expect per cartridge?

Black up to 500 pages per cartridge; the colours are rated by Epson as an 830-page composite for the XL tier (ISO/IEC 24711) across the colour set — no per-colour figure is published, and no summed box total is quoted here.

Are all thirteen cartridges XL and chipped?

Yes — all XL, each with a new compatible chip for ink-level reporting. These cartridges carry new compatible chips. If your printer's firmware has been updated, recognition issues can occasionally occur; reseat and restart first.

A cartridge from the box wasn't recognised. Do I return all 13?

No. Reseat it and restart first; if it still fails, contact us — the lifetime warranty covers the individual cartridge, not the whole box.

Is the ink dye or pigment?

Dye — Claria Photo HD dye in every colour of this family, per Epson's specification.

Is this an Epson bulk pack?

No — a Clever Supplies compatible bulk set built from the six 312XL codes. It is labelled compatible on the box and this page.

How should I store the spares?

Sealed, upright, at room temperature and out of sunlight. Open each cartridge only on install day so the chip contacts stay clean.

Does it fit European XP-8500-series printers?

No — European models are coded for 378/478. This set is for US models.

Why is there no millilitre total?

Epson publishes no mL volume for this family, so no volume figure — per cartridge or summed — is printed here.

Bulk box or the Set of 6?

The Set of 6 for an occasional full reset; this Set of 13 when you print constantly and want the shelf stocked — it works out cheaper per cartridge than singles.
