Light Cyan is the cartridge that smooths skies and skin tones on the XP-8500 series — and it belongs to that layout only. Our compatible T312XL520-S fits the Expression Photo XP-8500, XP-8600 and XP-8700. It does not fit the Expression Photo HD XP-15000: that printer's last two slots are Gray and Red, a different pair entirely. One code warning, because it trips people up: in this family 520 means a single Light Cyan cartridge — it is not the multi-pack code that 520 means in Epson's bottle families.

The ink is Claria Photo HD dye. On yield, Epson publishes no per-colour figure for Light Cyan; the family's colour rating is a composite of 830 pages for the XL tier across the colour set (ISO/IEC 24711), and this page states it that way rather than inventing a single-cartridge number. The cartridge carries a new compatible chip for ink-level reporting — this cartridge carries a new compatible chip. If your printer's firmware has been updated, recognition issues can occasionally occur; reseat and restart first. Its XP-8500-series shelf-mates are T312XL120-S black (up to 500 pages), T312XL220-S cyan, T312XL320-S magenta, T312XL420-S yellow and T312XL620-S light magenta.
Covered by our lifetime warranty, with free returns for the first year. A Clever Supplies compatible for US-region printers, not a genuine Epson cartridge.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which printers take the T312XL520 Light Cyan?
Expression Photo XP-8500, XP-8600 and XP-8700 only. The XP-15000 does not have a Light Cyan slot — its finishing pair is Gray and Red (314XL).
Is Light Cyan the same as Cyan?
No. Cyan (T312XL220-S) is a deeper, core colour; Light Cyan (T312XL520-S) is a paler ink for smooth photo gradients. They sit in different slots and neither replaces the other.
What page yield does it have?
No official per-colour figure exists. Epson rates the family's colour output as an 830-page composite for the XL tier (ISO/IEC 24711) across the colour set, so this cartridge's yield field is left blank rather than filled with an invented number.
Does it have a chip?
Yes — a new compatible chip for ink-level reporting. This cartridge carries a new compatible chip. If your printer's firmware has been updated, recognition issues can occasionally occur; reseat the cartridge and restart the printer if a warning appears.
Why do my photos need a light cyan at all?
Light inks let the printer lay down pale tones without sparse, grainy dot patterns — skies, water and skin look smoother. That is the whole point of the six-colour XP-8500-series layout.
Can I put this in an XP-15000?
No. The XP-15000's six slots are Black, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Gray and Red. There is no Light Cyan slot, and the cartridge will not be recognised as one of its colours.
Can I mix XL and standard cartridges in my XP-8600?
Yes — every slot is independent, so this XL Light Cyan works alongside standard or XL cartridges in the other slots.
Is it a genuine Epson cartridge?
No — a Clever Supplies compatible built to the T312XL520-S specification, labelled compatible on the box and this page.
Why is the volume in millilitres blank?
Epson's official documentation gives no mL figure for this family, so we leave it blank instead of repeating a reseller's claim.
Does it fit European XP-8500 models?
No. European versions are coded for 378/478 cartridges; this is the US 312XL cartridge with a US-region chip.
What if it is not recognised after a firmware update?
Reseat it and restart first — that clears most false warnings. If it persists, contact us: a cartridge that fails to perform is replaced under the lifetime warranty, with free returns in the first year.
Single Light Cyan or the Set of 6?
The single if only this slot is low. The XP-8500-series Set of 6 (black, cyan, magenta, yellow, light cyan, light magenta) resets the whole printer; the bulk Set of 13 suits heavy photo printing.
