Cyan is where this family's yield story needs stating plainly. Our compatible T312XL220-S is a Claria Photo HD dye cartridge for the Expression Photo HD XP-15000 and the Expression Photo XP-8500, XP-8600 and XP-8700 — Epson lists the same cyan code for all four. Epson does not publish a per-colour yield for it: colour output is rated as a composite, 830 pages for the XL tier (360 for standard), shared across the colour set on the ISO/IEC 24711 pattern. So this page publishes no per-colour page count, because there isn't an official one to publish.

The cartridge carries a new compatible chip for ink-level reporting. Honest note: this cartridge carries a new compatible chip. If your printer's firmware has been updated, recognition issues can occasionally occur — reseat the cartridge and restart the printer first if a warning appears. The rest of the shared core is T312XL120-S black (up to 500 pages), T312XL320-S magenta and T312XL420-S yellow; your printer's last two slots decide the rest — Gray and Red (314XL) on the XP-15000, Light Cyan and Light Magenta (312XL) on the XP-8500 series, never swapped.
Covered by our lifetime warranty, with free returns for the first year. A Clever Supplies compatible, not a genuine Epson cartridge, chipped for US-region printers.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why is there no page yield printed for this cyan?
Because Epson rates this family's colour yield as a composite — 830 pages for the XL tier across the colour set, ISO/IEC 24711 — not colour by colour. Any per-colour number would be invented, so the yield field for this cartridge is left blank and the composite is stated as a composite.
Which printers take the T312XL220 cyan?
Expression Photo HD XP-15000 and Expression Photo XP-8500, XP-8600 and XP-8700 — the same cyan code appears in Epson's official table for both layouts.
What ink is in it?
Claria Photo HD dye ink, like every cartridge in this family. Dye is what produces the glossy photo gamut these printers are known for.
Does this cyan have a chip?
Yes — a new compatible chip for ink-level reporting. This cartridge carries a new compatible chip. If your printer's firmware has been updated, recognition issues can occasionally occur; reseat and restart before judging the cartridge.
A recognition warning appeared after I installed it. Now what?
Remove the cartridge, wipe the chip contacts dry, reseat until it clicks, and restart the printer. A recent firmware update is the usual trigger. If the warning persists, the lifetime warranty covers the cartridge — contact us.
Can I mix this XL cyan with standard-capacity cartridges?
Yes — slots are independent. XL and standard 312 cartridges can sit side by side; the printer tracks each one separately.
Is cyan the same as light cyan?
No. Cyan (T312XL220-S) is a core colour in all four printers. Light Cyan (T312XL520-S) is a separate, paler cartridge that only the XP-8500, XP-8600 and XP-8700 take — it does not replace cyan, and it does not fit the XP-15000's slot layout.
Is it genuine Epson?
No. It is a Clever Supplies compatible built to the T312XL220-S specification, labelled compatible on the box and this page.
What volume of ink does it hold?
Epson's official documentation gives no millilitre figure for this family, so we leave the Volume field blank instead of repeating a reseller's number.
Does it fit European versions of these printers?
No — US models are coded for 312/312XL; European equivalents use 378/478 cartridges with different chips.
What if the colour prints weak or streaky from new?
Run the printer's head-cleaning cycle once; if output is still poor, that is a cartridge fault and it is replaced under the lifetime warranty. Free returns apply in the first year.
Should I buy the single cyan or a set?
The single if cyan alone is low. If several colours are near empty, the Set of 6 for your layout (XP-15000 or XP-8500 series) or the bulk Set of 13 works out cheaper per cartridge.
