Frequently Asked Questions
Why does this listing name a range — B3460DN to B3465DNF — instead of one printer?
Because one cartridge, the Dell 331-9807, serves the whole B3460DN–B3465DNF range. Rather than duplicate listings for each badge, this page names the range the cartridge covers and the part number behind it. If your machine is a B3460DN or a B3465DNF, the cartridge in this box is the 331-9807 your reorder sheet calls for.
What does one printed page cost with this cartridge?
The cartridge is $88.99 and rated at up to 20,000 pages, which works out to about 0.44 cents per page. That is the honest figure to use in a budget: not the sticker price, but the sticker price divided by the work the cartridge is rated to do.
The rating says 20,000 pages — what should we actually expect?
Ratings are measured on standard test pages with light, even coverage. A department that prints dense reports, forms and graphics will see fewer pages than the headline figure; a machine mostly printing plain text memos can land closer to it. Treat 20,000 as the yardstick for comparing cartridges, and your own machine's history as the forecast.
Our B3465DNF copies as well as prints — do copies draw on this cartridge too?
Yes. On a multifunction machine, every copied page is printed from the same 331-9807 cartridge, so copy volume shortens cartridge life exactly the way print volume does. Scanning, by contrast, lays no toner down at all. When you estimate how long a cartridge will last, count copies alongside prints or the cartridge will seem to run out early.
How should we keep a spare so it is ready the day the machine runs dry?
Store it sealed, flat and out of direct heat and sunlight, and put the new cartridge in when the old one is changed rather than leaving it opened on a shelf. A spare 331-9807 kept this way is a two-minute fix instead of a stopped department — which is the entire point of holding one.
What happens if the cartridge disappoints us?
It is covered by a 1-year warranty, and returns are free for a full year, so a cartridge that fails early is our problem to put right, not yours to absorb. Our support team answers Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST; the full terms sit on our shipping & returns page.
