An unopened MLT-D205S generally stays usable for a couple of years at room temperature for the SCX-4835. Samsung prints guidance on the box, but the toner powder itself is chemically stable — when age causes problems, it is usually the cartridge's seals or drum components, not the toner. If the box stayed sealed and cool, an older cartridge is often perfectly fine.
Why does recycling toner cartridges matter for the SCX-4835?
