Frequently Asked Questions

What should the first prints look like once this cartridge is in the SCX-4835?

Crisp and fully black from page one — a new MLT-D205L needs no breaking in. If the first pages come out pale, remove the cartridge and rock it gently from side to side to level the toner, then refit it with a firm push; that settles most cases. Weak output that persists after reseating is not normal for a new cartridge and is exactly what the year's warranty and free returns are there to resolve.

How many pages does one cartridge cover in the SCX-4835?

It is rated at 5,000 pages at 5% coverage, and the rating is spent on everything the machine prints — jobs from computers and copies from the glass alike, since a copy is simply a print of a scan. Ordinary office documents track the figure closely; a diet of dense reports and dark copies pulls it down somewhat. At typical volumes that is months of service between changeovers.

Why fit the high-yield cartridge rather than the standard one?

Because the standard-yield MLT-D205S holds about 2,000 pages in the same fitting, while this MLT-D205L holds 5,000 and costs less per page — roughly 0.78 cents at its $39.02 price. On a multifunction that works every day, the high-yield cartridge also means the machine is opened up less often, which the people sharing it tend to appreciate most.

Which other Samsung models run on this cartridge?

The MLT-D205L is the shared cartridge for the ML-3310, ML-3310D and ML-3310ND, the ML-3312, ML-3312D and ML-3312ND, the ML-3710, ML-3710DW and ML-3712 printers, and the SCX-4833, SCX-4833FD, SCX-4835FD, SCX-5639FR and SCX-5737 multifunctions. Keeping one type across that fleet is what makes a central spare shelf possible.

My SCX-4835 warns of low toner but still prints well — what should I do?

Keep printing, and treat the warning as the ordering signal rather than the changing signal. The gauge is an estimate; usable toner usually remains after it first complains. When the output itself starts to lighten, rock the cartridge side to side to gather what is left — often worth a few hundred pages — and have this replacement ready for the moment the fade comes straight back.

What cover comes with it?

A full year's warranty, with free returns running for the same twelve months. If the cartridge leaks, streaks or fails early it comes back to us at no cost — the shipping and returns page gives the details, and support is available Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
