Frequently Asked Questions

Does copying on the SCX-5737FW use the same toner as printing?

Yes — copies come off the same print engine, so every copied page draws on this MLT-D205L just as a printed page does. Scanning is the exception: it uses no toner at all. If the machine copies as much as it prints, expect its 5,000-page rating to be consumed by the combined output.

How long will one cartridge last this machine in ordinary use?

At a combined 1,200 pages a month, about four months; at 600 a month, nearer eight. The rating assumes 5% coverage, so a copy diet of dense originals will land below those spans while text work can match them.

What does a page cost with this cartridge fitted?

$39.02 spread over 5,000 rated pages is roughly 0.78 cents of toner per page. The five-pack version of the same cartridge brings each one down to $24.23 and the page cost to about 0.48 cents.

What should the first prints look like after fitting it?

Solid, even blacks with no pale edge or background grey. Give it a page or two to settle; persistent patchiness after that usually means the cartridge is not seated fully — lift it out and refit it before suspecting the cartridge itself.

Is it sensible to keep a sealed spare for this machine?

Yes, if the SCX-5737FW is the office's only multifunction: a spare stored flat, sealed and away from heat waits patiently, and the change takes minutes when the working cartridge fades. Its warranty and free-returns cover run from purchase just like the fitted one's.

What cover does this purchase include?

A one-year warranty and free returns for one year — a cartridge that leaks, streaks or fails early comes back at our expense, as the shipping and returns page explains. We ship from IL, PA, GA and CA, with support Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
