Frequently Asked Questions

What is inside this CP1312 4 Color Set?

Four sealed cartridges: CB540A black, CB541A cyan, CB542A yellow and CB543A magenta — the complete 125A line-up. The codes run in sequence, 540 through 543, and the color order on the boxes is cyan, yellow, then magenta.

Why does the black cartridge empty first on a machine that also copies and faxes?

Because every one of those jobs lands on the CB540A. Incoming faxes print in black, walk-up copies of letters and forms are almost always black, and ordinary office documents are text. The three colors only work when a page actually carries color, so black does most of the lifting on a shared CP1312.

How many pages should I expect from each cartridge?

The CB540A black is rated at about 2,200 pages. Each color — CB541A, CB542A and CB543A — is rated at about 1,400 pages, all at standard coverage on typical documents. Dense color pages will naturally come in under those figures.

Copies are losing their blue tones but black text is crisp — do I need the whole set?

No. A single fading hue points at one station: here, blue tones mean the CB541A cyan is running down or needs reseating. Fit that one cartridge and leave the other three sealed in the box until their own turn comes.

My machine's supply label lists codes rather than the 125A name — how do I check this is the right family?

Read the four codes off the label and compare them with the set above. This printer belongs to the Color LaserJet CM1312 MFP family, and the label on a machine in that family calls for exactly the CB540A–CB543A combination sold here.

What cover comes with this compatible set?

Every cartridge in the box is backed by a 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns from Clever Supplies, so a problem in the first twelve months is sorted without cost to you.

About This CP1312 125A Four-Color Set

At $75.93, this set is the one-visit refresh for a CP1312 that prints, copies and faxes all day: all four stations renewed together, with each cartridge individually sealed so nothing has to be fitted before it is needed. Scanning, by the way, uses no toner at all — only the printed page draws on these cartridges. More HP compatible supplies are on the site if a single color is ever needed on its own later.
