Frequently Asked Questions

Why does a 2-pack exist between the single and the 3-pack?

Because it is the low-commitment way to keep a spare. Two compatible 44574901 cartridges cost $39.61 — about $19.81 each, against $58.10 for two singles — so you save $18.49 and always have the next cartridge in a drawer without stocking deep.

How many pages does this listing put on my shelf?

20,000 in total: each 44574901 is rated at 10,000 pages, and both are the same high-yield black cartridge that runs in the B431d this listing is named for, plus the MB461 MFP, MB471 and MB471W.

Should I install both cartridges' worth of toner somehow?

No — the printer takes one at a time. The second cartridge is a sealed spare; it only goes in when the first one's pages genuinely start to fade.

Is the per-page cost respectable on a 2-pack?

Yes: at $39.61 for 20,000 pages you are at roughly 0.20 cents per page, a clear step down from the single's 0.29 cents without jumping to a 3- or 5-pack outlay.

What warranty covers the pair?

Both cartridges carry a one-year warranty and a year of free returns, as set out on the shipping and returns page.

Is this genuine Okidata toner?

No — compatible cartridges made to the 44574901 specification, sold under our own brand. The complete range is on the Okidata brand page, and support is available weekdays, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
