Frequently Asked Questions

Why does a three-pack exist between the single cartridge and the five-pack?

Because three is the natural shelf stock for a single busy printer. One MLT-D115L is in the machine, one is ready the day it fades, and one covers the gap if a delivery is delayed - without tying up the money or the cupboard space a five-pack asks for. For a printer that works through a cartridge every couple of months, this box is roughly a half-year of toner bought in one order.

What does each cartridge in this pack effectively cost?

The pack is $74.22 for three cartridges rated at 3,000 pages each, which works out to $24.74 a cartridge and around 0.82 cents a page. Bought one at a time, the same three cartridges would cost $111.18, so the pack keeps $36.96 in your pocket. It is not as deep a discount as the five-pack gives, but it asks for less cash up front.

How long is 9,000 pages likely to last?

That depends entirely on the printer's appetite. At 500 pages a month the three cartridges cover about eighteen months; at 1,000 pages a month, around nine months. A home office printing a few dozen pages a week may not finish the box for two years - which is fine, because sealed toner keeps well.

Which printers can draw from this pack?

Every cartridge in the box is a standard MLT-D115L, the shared unit for the Xpress M2620, Xpress M2670, Xpress M2820, Xpress M2870 and Xpress M2880FW, and the SL-M2820DW, SL-M2830DW, SL-M2870FW, SL-M2880FW, SL-ML2830DW and Xpress M2830 DW. If two of those machines sit in the same office, both can be fed from this one pack.

How should I store and rotate the spare cartridges?

Keep them sealed, flat and in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, and use them in the order they arrived. Toner powder is stable for a long shelf life, but the packaging protects it from humidity and knocks, so only open a cartridge when the printer actually needs it. When you do fit one, a gentle side-to-side rock before installation spreads the powder evenly.

What happens if one cartridge from the pack turns out to be faulty?

The cover is per cartridge, not per order: each unit in this box carries its own one-year warranty and a year of free returns, so a faulty second or third cartridge goes back on its own while the rest of the pack keeps working. The process is explained on the shipping and returns page. Orders are dispatched from our warehouses in IL, PA, GA and CA, with support available Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
