Frequently Asked Questions
Why is this cartridge sold under the number 331-9807 instead of a printer name?
Because that is the number Dell's parts system assigns to it, and it is the number that survives on storeroom labels, reorder sheets and last year's invoice after the printer's badge has faded from memory. This listing is the number-first version: one black cartridge rated at up to 20,000 pages, priced at $88.99. If your paperwork says 331-9807, this is the cartridge it points to.
What does a 20,000-page rating mean for a department printer in real terms?
It puts the 331-9807 in the long-run class. A department machine like the B3460DN or B3465DNF does not sip toner a few pages at a time — it works through reams. A cartridge rated at 20,000 pages turns toner from a weekly errand into a supply you think about a handful of times a year, and it keeps changeovers rare enough that they stop interrupting the working day.
What does $88.99 work out to per printed page?
About 0.44 cents of toner per rated page. That is the arithmetic of a large cartridge: the purchase price is spread across 20,000 pages, so the per-page figure lands well below what small-capacity cartridges cost to run. For a department tracking its print spend, that is the number to put on the cost line.
How long will one cartridge last at a steady department pace?
Do the division against your own volume. At 250 pages a day, 20,000 rated pages is roughly 80 working days; at 500 a day it is about 40. Busy weeks pull the date closer and quiet ones push it back, but the point stands — one 331-9807 covers months of ordinary department output, not weeks.
Is this a genuine Dell cartridge?
No — it is a compatible 331-9807, made by a third party to the same specification rather than by Dell. Judge it on what is stated here: the 20,000-page rating, the $88.99 price and the cover set out below. The genuine article differs in the name on the box and the price that name carries.
What protection comes with it if a cartridge lets us down early?
Every cartridge is covered by a 1-year warranty with 1-year free returns, and our support team is available Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST. Full terms are on our shipping & returns page.
