Frequently Asked Questions

Why is this cartridge identified by the number 46490602?

Because on the C532 family, the number is the color. The C532 series takes four separate cartridges — 46490601, 46490602, 46490603 and 46490604 — and 46490602 is the magenta one. Ordering by that number is the surest way to get the pink-red cartridge your printer is asking for, rather than a look-alike listing for one of its three siblings.

What does magenta actually do in my color prints?

Magenta is one of the three color toners the printer blends to build everything that is not black or gray. Reds, pinks, purples and most warm skin tones lean heavily on it, and it is also mixed into a large share of blues and greens. When the 46490602 runs low, those warm tones are the first to wash out, even while your blacks still look fine.

How many pages will this cartridge print?

The 46490602 is rated at up to 6,000 pages. That is the standard test rating; a page heavy with color graphics uses far more toner than a page of text, so a marketing-heavy workload will finish the cartridge sooner than the rating suggests, while light color accents on mostly-text pages can stretch it further.

What does the per-page cost work out to?

At $38.39 for up to 6,000 pages, the magenta works out to roughly 0.64 cents per page. That is the cost of the magenta component only — a full-color page also draws on the other three cartridges, so treat this as the price of keeping your reds and pinks alive, not the total cost of a color page.

Is this an original Okidata cartridge?

No. This is a compatible 46490602 cartridge made to the same specification, not an Okidata-branded one. It carries a one-year warranty, and returns are free for a full year under the terms on our shipping and returns page.

Which machines take this cartridge, and where does it ship from?

The 46490602 serves the Okidata C532 and C532CD printers and the MC573DN multifunction model. Orders are dispatched from warehouses in IL, PA, GA and CA, and our support team is available Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST. The rest of the range is listed on our Okidata toner page.
