Frequently Asked Questions

My printer says magenta is low — how much printing do I have left?

The low-toner warning on these machines appears with a reserve still in the cartridge, so it is a prompt to order rather than a hard stop. How long the reserve lasts depends on coverage: light color use can stretch it for weeks, while heavy graphics can finish a 46490602 in days. Ordering when the warning first appears means the replacement is on the shelf before print quality actually suffers.

Can I keep printing until the cartridge is completely empty?

You can, and many offices do — the first real symptom is color shift rather than a breakdown: reds turning rusty and skin tones going gray as the magenta gives out. It will not harm the printer to run it dry, but anything color-critical is better printed after the new 46490602 is in, so the output stays accurate.

Is swapping the magenta a messy or technical job?

No. The 46490602 lifts out and the new cartridge drops into the same slot in about a minute, with no tools and no settings to change. Keep the new cartridge sealed until the moment you install it, and give it a gentle rock side to side first so the toner inside is evenly distributed for consistent first pages.

What does this single cartridge cost, in plain terms?

$38.39, for a rating of up to 6,000 pages — roughly 0.64 cents per page for magenta. Because the C532 family splits its colors into individual cartridges (46490601 through 46490604), you replace only the color that has run down instead of buying a combined unit, which keeps each replacement a small, predictable expense.

What if the new cartridge does not perform as it should?

It is covered by a one-year warranty, and returns are free for a year from purchase — the details are on our shipping and returns page. This is a compatible 46490602, not an Okidata-branded cartridge, and that cover is there so trying it costs you nothing if it disappoints.

Where will my order come from, and which models does it fit?

We ship from warehouses in IL, PA, GA and CA, and support is on hand Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST. The 46490602 fits the Okidata C532 and C532CD printers and the MC573DN multifunction; the full range for those machines is on our Okidata toner page.
