Frequently Asked Questions

Why do my reds look orange all of a sudden?

That is the classic signature of a fading magenta cartridge. Red is printed by laying magenta over yellow; as the 46490602 empties, the magenta layer thins and the yellow underneath dominates, so reds drift orange, purples drift blue and printed photos take on a cold, greenish cast. If black text still prints crisply, the magenta is the cartridge to change.

Do I have to replace the other colors at the same time?

No. Each color in the C532 is a separate cartridge with its own part number, and 46490602 is only the magenta. Swap just this one and leave the cyan, yellow and black in place until each of them genuinely runs down — replacing a full set when one color has faded is money spent on toner you have not used yet.

How long should one magenta cartridge last in normal office use?

It is rated at up to 6,000 pages, but magenta consumption depends entirely on what you print. An office producing text documents with a color logo may take a year or more to finish one; a studio printing full-bleed brochures and photo proofs can go through the same 46490602 in a fraction of that time, because every page carries heavy color coverage.

What am I paying per printed page?

The cartridge costs $38.39 and is rated at up to 6,000 pages, which is roughly 0.64 cents per page for the magenta supply. For a compatible cartridge built to the 46490602 specification, that keeps the cost of presentations, charts and color handouts modest without paying original-brand prices.

What protection do I get with a compatible cartridge?

Every 46490602 we sell is covered by a one-year warranty, and if it is not right for your machine you have a full year of free returns, as described on the shipping and returns page. It is a compatible cartridge rather than an Okidata original, and the warranty and returns are how that difference is covered.

Which printers use the 46490602?

This magenta is made for the Okidata C532 and C532CD printers and the MC573DN multifunction. It is one member of a four-cartridge family — its siblings are the 46490601, 46490603 and 46490604 — all browsable on our Okidata toner page. Orders ship from IL, PA, GA or CA, and support runs Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
