Frequently Asked Questions

How does the cost of this magenta cartridge break down?

The 46490602 is $38.39 and rated at up to 6,000 pages, so the magenta supply costs roughly 0.64 cents per page. For budgeting, that is the useful figure: multiply it by your monthly page count and you have the running cost of the magenta side of a C532-family machine, with no subscription or contract wrapped around it.

Why is magenta sold on its own instead of in a set?

Because the four colors do not run out together. Magenta feeds every red, pink and purple you print, so in a color-heavy office it can empty well ahead of its siblings — the 46490601, 46490603 and 46490604. Selling 46490602 individually means you buy the color you need, when you need it, and nothing else.

Does copying on the MC573DN use this same cartridge?

Yes. On the MC573DN multifunction, copying draws on the same toner cartridges as printing — there is no separate copy supply. So color copies of flyers and photos consume the 46490602 just as network print jobs do, and a fading magenta shows up in copies exactly as it does in prints.

How should I store a spare cartridge?

Keep it sealed in its box, flat, in a cool dry cupboard away from direct sunlight. Stored that way, a spare 46490602 waits patiently until the installed one fades — which makes it practical for a small office to hold one on the shelf rather than discover an empty cartridge on the morning of a deadline.

Is this cartridge an original Okidata product?

It is not — it is a compatible cartridge built to the 46490602 specification. It comes with a one-year warranty and a full year of free returns, set out on our shipping and returns page, so the compatible choice does not leave you uncovered.

Which printers does it serve, and how do I reach support?

The 46490602 fits the Okidata C532 and C532CD printers and the MC573DN multifunction, all of which are covered on our Okidata toner page. Orders leave from warehouses in IL, PA, GA and CA, and our team answers Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
