Frequently Asked Questions

Why does the black cartridge on our colour printer empty long before the colours do?

Because black does the heavy lifting even on a colour machine. Letters, invoices, reports and contracts are almost entirely black text; the colours are spent only where a page actually carries colour. The CLT-K505L is the black supply for that workload, and it empties first simply because it works hardest — the cyan, magenta and yellow can still be half full on the day the black gives out.

How far does the 6,000-page rating stretch in a real office?

The CLT-K505L is rated at 6,000 pages at the standard five percent coverage — a normal page of text with a small graphic. An office turning out a few hundred documents a week will measure one cartridge in months rather than weeks. Dense pages spend it faster: a page packed with shaded tables or a full-bleed logo can carry several times the standard coverage, so treat 6,000 as the yardstick, not a promise.

Which printers is this black listed for?

This is the black cartridge named for Samsung's ProXpress C2620DW and ProXpress C2670FW colour printers. If your machine's toner door or status page calls for the CLT-K505L code, this is the supply it is asking for; the colour partners in the same machine are the CLT-C505L cyan, CLT-M505L magenta and CLT-Y505L yellow, each replaced on its own day.

The cartridge I removed is stamped CLT-K505L — is this listing the same one?

Yes. The code stamped on the old cartridge is the reliable way to reorder, and CLT-K505L is exactly what this listing sells in compatible form. Matching the code matters more than matching the printer model, because this one black serves both ProXpress models above — order by the stamp and the cartridge that arrives is the one the machine expects.

What does a page of black actually cost on this cartridge?

Priced at $45.14 against the 6,000-page rating, the black works out at roughly 0.75 cents a page at standard coverage — the L in the code marks it as the high-yield version, so the per-page figure sits well below what the standard-capacity CLT-K505S delivers from the same machine. Divide any rival's price by its rated yield and compare like with like.

What cover comes with this compatible cartridge?

A one-year warranty against defects and free returns for a full year from purchase; the shipping and returns page sets out both in full. Orders leave from whichever of our IL, PA, GA or CA warehouses is closest, and support runs Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.

About This CLT-K505L Black Cartridge

The workhorse black for the ProXpress colour platform: a compatible CLT-K505L rated at 6,000 pages for $45.14 — about 0.75 cents a page — serving the C2620DW and C2670FW, and drawn from our wider Samsung toner cartridges range. A year's warranty and a year of free returns stand behind it, so the black that empties first is also the one that is cheapest to keep ahead of.
