Frequently Asked Questions

Why does this C531D set say "Premium Quality" if it costs the same as the standard one?

Because that is the honest answer: it does cost the same. Both versions of this four-cartridge set for the Oki C531D are $64.38, with the same ratings — black up to 3,500 pages, each color up to 3,000 pages. We will not pretend the Premium Quality label buys you extra pages or a secret upgrade. It is the same set, the same four cartridges replacing numbers 44469801, 44469701, 44469702 and 44469703, at the same money. Pick whichever listing is in front of you; your printer cannot tell the difference and neither will your budget.

What does the set price work out to per cartridge?

$64.38 divided across four cartridges is about $16.10 each. That is the number to compare if you are thinking about buying colors one at a time — the set bundles a black and all three colors together, so a full refresh of your C531D costs roughly sixteen dollars a slot and arrives in one shipment.

How should I read the page ratings?

As two classes, not one total. The black is rated up to 3,500 pages and each color up to 3,000 pages, all measured at 5% coverage. A month of letters and reports leans almost entirely on the black, so it will finish first; a month of flyers leans on the colors. Ratings also assume you print until the cartridge is truly empty — the printer's first "low toner" warning usually appears with a useful number of pages still left.

Can I keep unopened cartridges from this set on the shelf?

Yes, and it is the practical way to own a set. Install the color the C531D asks for, store the rest sealed in a cool, dry spot away from sunlight and heat vents. Toner does not dry out like ink, so shelf spares are a genuine safety net rather than a waste risk — the next swap takes minutes instead of a delivery wait.

What other machines take these cartridges?

The family behind numbers 44469801, 44469701, 44469702 and 44469703 is also listed for the Oki C530dn and C531dn, plus the MC562w, MC890 and MC950 multifunctions. If a second printer in your office is on that list, this set doubles as its restock too.

What happens if print quality is not right after installing?

First run the printer's calibration and a cleaning page — fresh cartridges sometimes need a few pages to settle. If output is still off, you are covered: these compatible cartridges carry a 1-year warranty and free returns for a year, explained on the shipping & returns page. Support is available Monday–Friday, 9 AM–5 PM CST, and orders ship from warehouses in Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia and California. See the rest of the line on the Okidata page.
