Frequently Asked Questions

What is inside this C531D 4 color set?

Four cartridges — black, cyan, magenta and yellow, one of each — covering the Oki part numbers 44469801, 44469701, 44469702 and 44469703. It is the whole toner lineup for the Oki C531D in a single $64.38 box, which averages about $16.10 per cartridge. There is no drum in this set; it is toner only, and the drums in your printer stay where they are.

How do the yields break down by color class?

The black cartridge carries the higher rating, up to 3,500 pages, while each of the three colors is rated up to 3,000 pages. That split reflects how offices actually print: far more black text than full-color pages. Measured at the standard 5% coverage, the black is good for roughly seven reams of documents before it runs dry, and each color for roughly six reams of color output.

Should I change all four at the same time?

Only if all four are actually low. Each cartridge installs and depletes independently, so the sensible routine is to replace whichever one the printer flags and keep the others sealed as spares. Changing a half-full color just because the black ran out wastes the pages still left in it. The exception is a big, deadline-driven color job — then a fresh full set removes the risk of a color dying mid-run.

What makes a color look washed out even with toner left?

Usually it is one color nearing the end rather than all four. If reds look orange, the magenta or yellow is typically low; if blues go dull, look at cyan. Because this set refreshes every color at once when you choose to install them all, it is also the reset button for gradual color drift — after a full swap, run the printer's color calibration from the menu so the new cartridges register evenly.

Which printers share this cartridge family?

Beyond the C531D listing name, the set is listed for the Oki C530dn and C531dn printers and the MC562w, MC890 and MC950 multifunction models — the cartridges identified by numbers 44469801, 44469701, 44469702 and 44469703 fit across that range. Mixed fleets benefit most: one stocked set serves several machines.

What protection comes with a compatible set like this?

A 1-year warranty and free returns for a full year, with the terms on our shipping & returns page. These are compatible cartridges rather than Oki-made originals. Orders leave from our IL, PA, GA and CA warehouses, whichever is closest to you, and support answers Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST. The full Oki range is on the Okidata page.
