The WorkForce EC-4040 takes the Epson 802 cartridge family — individual DURABrite Ultra pigment cartridges in black, cyan, magenta and yellow. The compatibles below give you a standard black up to 900 pages or the 802XL tier (black up to 2,600, colours up to 1,900 each), each cartridge chipped and covered by a lifetime warranty.

EC-4040 Ink — The Top EC Model, the Same 802 Shelf

Epson's compatibility data for the 802 family closes its seven-model list with the EC-4040, and the cartridge table is the family's standard one: 802 standard (black 900 pages, colours 650 each) and 802XL high capacity (black 2,600, colours 1,900 each) on the ISO/IEC 24711 pattern, DURABrite Ultra pigment ink throughout — stocked as the T802120 standard black, T802XL120 XL black, T802XL220 cyan, T802XL320 magenta and T802XL420 yellow singles, the mixed Set of 5 and the all-XL Set of 4.

The EC badge marks the sales channel, not a different ink: the EC-4020, EC-4030 and EC-4040 trio draws from this one 802 shelf, exactly as the WF-47xx models do, so the same seven products serve this page. There is no separate EC ink to hunt for — match the 802 or 802XL code on the cartridge you remove.

Which 802 should you buy?

One cartridge at a time: standard black ($19.49) for light use; XL black ($25.49), cyan, magenta and yellow ($22.49 each) for volume.
Black-heavy reset: the Set of 5 ($73.43) pairs two standard blacks with one XL of each colour — read the mix before ordering.
Full reset: the all-XL Set of 4 ($79.44) replaces every position at XL yields.

Chip, ink and everyday use
