The WorkForce EC-4020 prints with the Epson 802 cartridge family — four individual DURABrite Ultra pigment cartridges, the same shelf as the WorkForce Pro WF-47xx models. Below: standard black (T802120) up to 900 pages, 802XL black up to 2,600 pages and 802XL colours up to 1,900 pages each, all chipped with a lifetime warranty.

EC-4020 Ink — An EC Badge on the 802 Shelf

Epson's product data lists the EC-4020 in the 802 family's compatibility set, and its own start-here documentation prints the replacement table plainly: Black 802 / 802XL, with the colours on the same standard-and-XL pattern. Yields are the family's: standard black 900 and colours 650 each; XL black 2,600 and colours 1,900 each (ISO/IEC 24711), DURABrite Ultra pigment throughout. The EC badge changes the printer's sales channel, not its ink: an EC-4020 and a WF-4730 draw from exactly the same cartridges, so this page carries the same seven products — standard black single, four XL singles, the mixed Set of 5 and the all-XL Set of 4. Standard colour singles are not part of the compatible ladder and are not dressed up as anything else here.

Which 802 should you buy?

One cartridge at a time: standard black ($19.49) for light use; XL black ($25.49), cyan, magenta and yellow ($22.49 each) for volume.
Black-heavy reset: the Set of 5 ($73.43) pairs two standard blacks with one XL of each colour — read the mix before ordering.
Full reset: the all-XL Set of 4 ($79.44) replaces every position at XL yields.

Chip, ink and everyday use

Every cartridge carries a new compatible chip, so ink levels read normally; a one-time on-screen confirmation is the printer checking a non-Epson cartridge, not an error. If a firmware update ever precedes a recognition warning, reseat the flagged cartridge and restart first — and the lifetime warranty covers the cartridge either way.
