XP-446

The Expression Home XP-446 is the reference model for the 288 family: Epson's own product page lists its ink as 288 and 288XL in four individual cartridges. Clever Supplies compatible 288XL cartridges below — black up to 500 pages, colours up to 450 each — are chipped DURABrite Ultra pigment cartridges with a lifetime warranty.

XP-446 Ink — The Family's Reference Page

Everything this family claims is readable on the XP-446's own Epson page: 'Ink Type: DURABrite Ultra pigment ink', 'Ink Configuration: 4 individual ink cartridges', and replacement yields of 175 / 165 pages for the standard tier and 500 / 450 for XL, measured to ISO/IEC 24711. Our product pages carry exactly those XL figures: T288XL120 black and T288XL220 / T288XL320 / T288XL420 colours. That is also why this page prints no figure the XP-446's own sheet does not carry.

The XP-446 shares its official FAQ with the XP-440, including the cartridge-recognition flow — so the family's chip caution applies here in full, and the same four XL cartridges serve both models.

The same 288XL shelf serves the whole family roster — XP-330, XP-340, XP-430, XP-434, XP-440 — so one cartridge list covers every model on it, and a spare bought for any of them fits the rest. Pigment ink is the everyday half of this family's story: dry-to-the-touch pages and smudge-resistant text, with spares that keep best sealed — away from air and light — until the day they are installed.

Which 288XL should you buy?

  • One colour ran out: replace just that colour — black, cyan, magenta and yellow singles are $13.49 each.
  • Full refresh: the Set of 4 ($47.94) replaces all four positions in one box.
  • Print every week: the Set of 9 ($94.37) stocks three blacks and two of each colour.

Chip, ink and everyday use

Keep automatic firmware updates off where the model allows, reseat and restart first after any warning, and lean on the lifetime warranty if a cartridge will not perform. Every cartridge carries a new compatible chip for ink-level reporting. If a firmware update ever precedes a recognition warning, reseat the cartridge and restart before judging it — the lifetime warranty, with 1-year free returns, stands behind every cartridge regardless.
