XP-430 Ink — Same 288 Family, XL Tier
Epson's specification text for the XP-430 is one of the family's anchor documents: 'Ink Configuration: 4 individual ink cartridges', DURABrite Ultra pigment ink, and replacement yields of 175 / 165 pages for the standard tier and 500 / 450 for XL. Our products are the XL half of that roster: T288XL120 black and T288XL220 / T288XL320 / T288XL420 colours. Epson rates the standard black at 175 pages — the XL's 500 is exactly why this shelf skips the standard tier.
The XP-430's generation invites one classic mix-up: its successors moved to other families (822 among them), so a cartridge bought for a newer XP model will not serve this one. If your badge says XP-430, its shelf is 288 / 288XL only. The same discipline covers the rest of this roster: models that stayed on 288 take these cartridges, models that moved on do not, and the badge is the only reliable witness.
The same 288XL shelf serves the whole family roster — XP-330, XP-340, XP-434, XP-440, XP-446 — so one cartridge list covers every model on it, and a spare bought for any of them fits the rest. The ink is pigment throughout: prints come off the page dry, text stays sharp, and a highlighter passes over a page without smearing it — the behaviour school and office paper actually needs.
Which 288XL should you buy?
- One colour ran out: replace just that colour — black, cyan, magenta and yellow singles are $13.49 each.
- Full refresh: the Set of 4 ($47.94) replaces all four positions in one box.
- Print every week: the Set of 9 ($94.37) stocks three blacks and two of each colour.
Chip, ink and everyday use
Every cartridge carries a new compatible chip for ink-level reporting. If a firmware update ever precedes a recognition warning, reseat the cartridge and restart before judging it — the lifetime warranty, with 1-year free returns, stands behind every cartridge regardless.
