How far does the standard magenta go?

Up to 165 pages (ISO/IEC 24711) — level with the standard cyan and yellow. Warm-coloured pages, party invitations and photo prints lean on magenta harder than the test pattern, so real life can be shorter.

My reds are coming out orange. Is magenta the reason?

Often, yes: red is magenta plus yellow, so a fading magenta channel drags red toward orange. Run the printer's nozzle check — a broken magenta pattern confirms the channel, not guesswork.

Which models take the T288320?

Expression Home XP-330, XP-340, XP-430, XP-434, XP-440 and XP-446. The XP-420 and other Expressions outside that list use different families.

Can I replace magenta on its own?

Yes — all four cartridges are separate and individually replaceable. The printer flags only the empty one, and the others are best left until their turn.

Does it have a chip, and what does it do?

A new compatible chip that reports ink levels to the printer, so the level gauge works normally. One honest caveat follows in the next answer.

What is the firmware caveat, plainly?

This cartridge carries a new compatible chip. If your printer's firmware has been updated, recognition issues can occasionally occur — Epson writes its firmware for Epson cartridges. Reseat firmly and restart the printer first; if the warning persists, the lifetime warranty is the route, not a bin.

Is the ink pigment or dye?

Pigment — DURABrite Ultra, in all four 288 colours. On plain paper it sits up on the fibres, which is what gives this family its water- and fade-resistant documents.

Will it sit beside XL cartridges?

Yes. Standard and XL mix freely across the four slots; no setting changes and no matched set required.

What millilitre volume does it hold?

We do not publish one: no millilitre figure for the 288 family appears in Epson's US documentation, so the Volume field is blank. The comparable number is the 165-page ISO yield.

Is this made by Epson?

Standard or XL magenta for a school-projects household?

Standard, usually — project printing comes in bursts, and this tier matches it. If the printer starts refusing to print mid-term because magenta is out again, the XL (up to 450 pages) ends the pattern.
