Does the N version of the 6010 need different toner from the standard 6010?

None at all. The N marks the networked configuration of the printer; the engine and its supplies are unchanged. A 6010N takes black 106R1630, cyan 106R1627, magenta 106R1628 and yellow 106R1629, precisely as the base model does, and this set contains one of each.

Several of us print to this machine. How does that affect the cartridges?

It accelerates the colours. Each colour cartridge is rated at up to 1,400 pages, and a networked printer quietly accumulates colour pages from every desk it serves — a chart here, a logo there — so the colours deplete faster than any single user expects. The black, rated at up to 2,000 pages, generally keeps pace longer.

What does the set cost per cartridge?

The set is $68.36 for four cartridges, $17.09 each, covering every position in the printer once. For a shared machine that is the price of keeping the whole office printing in colour without a purchase order each time a single colour fades.

Which printers will this set fit, besides the 6010N?

It is named for the Phaser 6010N, and the same four cartridges serve the Phaser 6010, the Phaser 6000 and the WorkCentre 6015V/N. Small offices running a mix of these machines can hold one common stock.

When the panel names a colour, who should swap it?

Whoever is standing there — it takes a moment and no tools. Fit the named colour from the set, leave the others in place, and put the remaining cartridges somewhere the whole team can find them. The failure mode on shared printers is not the swap; it is nobody knowing where the spares live.
