Frequently Asked Questions

The title says "Toner Cartridges" — how many cartridges are actually in the box?

One. This listing's name uses the plural out of habit, but what ships is a single black 106R1630 cartridge at $29.92. We would rather clear that up here than have you open the box expecting spares: if you want a cartridge in reserve as well as one in the machine, the multi-packs in this same family are the listings built for that.

What makes this a 106R1630 and not some other black cartridge?

The number is the identity. Xerox assigned 106R1630 to the black toner for its compact color platform, and the cartridge coming out of your printer will carry that code on its label. Match the code and you have matched the supply — model names, listing titles and box artwork all vary, the part number does not.

What does a printed page cost with this cartridge?

At $29.92 for a rating of up to 2,000 pages, the toner works out to about 1.50 cents per page. That is the figure worth comparing across listings: a cheaper sticker on a shorter-lived cartridge can quietly cost more per page than this one does. The rating itself is measured at roughly 5% page coverage — an ordinary text page. Heavy pages draw more toner than that yardstick assumes, so a real cartridge may finish short of 2,000 pages, while light correspondence can carry it past the mark; treat the figure as a comparison tool, not a countdown.

This is for a color printer — is this listing the black only?

Yes. This cartridge is black and nothing else. The color slots in these machines take their own separate cartridges with their own part numbers; nothing in this box fills them. Black earns its own listing because it does most of the work in most offices — letters, invoices, forms — and usually runs out well ahead of the colors.

Which printers take this cartridge?

The Phaser 6000 and 6000B, the Phaser 6010 and its networked Phaser 6010N, and the WorkCentre 6015 family including the WorkCentre 6015V/B and WorkCentre 6015V/N variants. One black cartridge serves the whole platform.

What cover comes with it?

A one-year warranty and free returns for a full year, as set out on our shipping and returns page. Orders ship from warehouses in IL, PA, GA and CA, real people answer support Monday to Friday, 9 AM–5 PM CST, and the wider range sits on our Xerox toner page.

About This 106R1630 Black Cartridge

The family's starting point: a single compatible 106R1630 black cartridge, $29.92, rated at up to 2,000 pages — about 1.50 cents of toner per page. It is the straightforward replacement for a small Xerox color printer whose black has run down, sold honestly as one cartridge despite the plural in its name.
