Frequently Asked Questions

On a machine this fast, how often will we be changing the black cartridge?

The 006R01697 is rated for up to 26,000 pages. A C8070 in serious service can print at that scale quickly: at 15,000 pages a month a cartridge lasts under two months, and at 25,000 a month you are changing it roughly monthly. At the top of the AltaLink range, black toner is a consumable you plan in a sequence, not one you buy one at a time in a panic.

What does a year of black toner look like at high volume?

Work it from the meter. A machine printing 200,000 black pages a year gets through about eight cartridges (200,000 ÷ 26,000), which at $118.35 each is roughly $947 a year in black toner — near 0.46 cents a page however you slice the year. That predictability is the point of a rated yield: your cost per page does not drift with your volume.

Is keeping just one spare enough at this level?

One spare is the minimum, and the maths above shows why: if a cartridge lasts a month, a single spare is only a month of cover, and it is consumed the moment the fitted cartridge ends. High-volume sites often hold the next cartridge and order its replacement the day it goes in — the shelf never reaches zero.

How do I confirm this is the right cartridge before ordering a run of them?

Match the number: the black supply for the whole AltaLink C8000 family is 006R01697, and that is the number printed on the cartridge you will pull out. If the old cartridge says 006R01697, this listing is its replacement — check it once, then order the sequence with confidence.

Is this a black cartridge or a colour one?

Black. This listing supplies the black position only. The C8070's colour positions take separate cartridges under their own numbers; no colour yield is stated here because no colour cartridge is sold here.

What cover and support come with it?

A one-year warranty with free returns for a full year, explained on our shipping & returns page. Orders ship from warehouses in IL, PA, GA and CA — useful when a high-volume machine cannot wait — and support answers Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
