Our greens have started printing blue — is a cartridge responsible?

Almost certainly, yes. Green on paper is not a colour of its own; the machine builds it by laying yellow over cyan. When the yellow supply fades, the cyan wins and every green in your charts, maps and logos slides toward blue. On the C8030 the yellow supply is the 006R01700, and blue-tinted greens are the most reliable early signal that it is running dry.

Why did the yellow run low without anyone spotting it?

Yellow is the palest of the four toners, so its own areas give very little away — a weakening yellow patch just looks like slightly paler yellow, and most people blame the paper or their screen first. The shortage only becomes obvious in the mixed colours that depend on yellow, which is why greens going blue, rather than the yellows themselves, are what usually raises the alarm about the 006R01700.

How do we confirm the yellow is the culprit before ordering?

Ask the machine, not your eyes. Print the colour quality or gradation test page from the control panel and find the solid yellow block: a healthy cartridge prints it dense and even, while a tired 006R01700 lays it down patchy, streaked or noticeably washed out. What other colour shifts point at this cartridge?

Oranges drift toward red and pink, because orange is magenta plus yellow and the magenta starts to dominate. Cream and gold backgrounds lose their warmth and turn greyish, highlights look bleached, and faces come out cool rather than warm.
