Frequently Asked Questions

Do the draft and toner-save modes really make a colour cartridge last longer?

Yes — they work by laying down less toner per page, and the saving is most visible on graphics-heavy work, where coverage is high. On plain text the effect is small because there is little toner on the page to save. For internal drafts of decks and reports, toner-save is a genuine way to stretch the 006R01699; for anything leaving the building, run at full quality.

Why does our magenta seem to run down faster than the other colours?

Look at what the office actually prints. Modern templates lean on warm accent colours — reds, oranges, purples — and every one of them is built from magenta. A ALTALINK C8035 printing presentation decks, charts with red series lines and branded covers will consume its 006R01699 noticeably faster than a machine printing mostly correspondence.

What is the rated yield, and what moves it up or down?

The 006R01699 is rated at 15,000 pages at 5 percent coverage. Coverage is the whole story: a page carrying a full-width colour banner and a photograph may use six to ten times the standard allowance, while a letter with a small logo uses a fraction of it. Your real yield sits wherever your mix of documents puts it between those extremes.

Can a print setting fix reds that have already started looking orange?

No, and this is a useful diagnostic in itself. Colour settings redistribute the toner that is in the machine; they cannot invent magenta that is no longer there. If reds have gone orange while blues stay clean, the 006R01699 is running out and no adjustment at the panel will bring the red back — the cartridge has to be replaced.

Is one spare enough for a C8035, or should we hold more?

One sealed spare is the right depth for a single machine: the swap takes minutes and the replacement for the spare can be ordered the same day. Note that this same 006R01699 also serves the ALTALINK C8030 and ALTALINK C8045, so offices running several models from the family can pool one spare across machines instead of stocking one per device.

What cover does the cartridge carry, and how fast does it ship?

It comes with a one-year warranty and free returns for a full year — details on our shipping and returns page. We dispatch from warehouses in IL, PA, GA and CA, and support is staffed Monday to Friday, 9 AM–5 PM CST. The full catalogue is on the Xerox toner page.
