Frequently Asked Questions

What are the first signs this cartridge is in its last stretch?

Watch the solid areas. A tiring 006R01699 lays down uneven magenta — one side of a solid block deeper than the other, faint banding across wide colour areas, reds that look patchy rather than uniformly orange. Text pages can still look perfectly respectable while this is happening, because text barely sips from the cartridge; the solids are where the end announces itself.

Why does the low-toner warning seem to come and go?

The level is an estimate recalculated from recent printing. A week of colour-heavy work pulls the estimate down sharply; a week of mostly black-and-white output lets it creep back up, because the machine is averaging over what has actually been consumed. Treat the warning as a trend on a ALTALINK C8070 that prints all day: once it appears, the cartridge is in its final portion even if the message clears.

Should a long job be started on a cartridge that is nearly empty?

Swap first. Changing the 006R01699 mid-job leaves a visible seam in the output — the pages before the change and the pages after it differ in colour depth, and on a bound report or a matched set that difference is easy to spot. The swap itself takes a couple of minutes between jobs and costs nothing in quality; starting fresh is always the cheaper decision.

What is the cartridge rated at, and what shortens its life on a high-volume machine?

The rating is 15,000 pages at 5 percent coverage. What shortens it in practice is coverage per page — full-colour covers, photo pages and A3 sheets all draw several times the standard allowance. High volume alone does not change the per-page maths; it simply means a C8070 working through 006R01699 cartridges reaches the end of each one in weeks rather than months.

Can the swap be done without taking the machine out of service for the floor?

Effectively, yes. No tools are involved and no settings need to be touched: the spent cartridge comes out, the new 006R01699 goes in, and the machine is ready again within minutes. Schedule it in a natural gap between jobs and most users on the floor will never notice the machine was touched.

What warranty and delivery come with the cartridge?

It is covered by a one-year warranty, and returns are free for a full year — see our shipping and returns page for the terms. Stock ships from warehouses in IL, PA, GA and CA, and support is staffed Monday to Friday, 9 AM–5 PM CST. The full range is listed on the Xerox toner page.
