Frequently Asked Questions

How can I tell how much life is left in the magenta cartridge that is already installed?

Use the supplies screen on the machine's control panel — it shows an estimated remaining level for each colour, including the magenta. Treat the figure as a planning estimate rather than a gauge: it is calculated from page counts and coverage, so a week of heavy colour work can pull the real level down faster than the display suggests.

At what point should the replacement be ordered?

A sensible reorder point on a shared ALTALINK C8030 is around 20 percent remaining. The 006R01699 is rated at 15,000 pages, so 20 percent represents roughly 3,000 standard pages of buffer — enough to cover delivery time and a busy week without the department being caught mid-job with reds turning orange.

How long does one cartridge typically last a department?

Divide your monthly colour volume into the rating. A floor printing about 3,000 colour pages a month at office coverage gets on the order of five months from one 006R01699; a floor printing 7,500 colour pages a month should expect closer to two. Photo-heavy and full-bleed work shortens both figures, because coverage, not page count alone, is what consumes the toner.

What happens to queued work when the magenta finally empties?

Colour jobs are the ones that suffer: the machine will hold work that needs magenta rather than print it wrong, which means a brochure run can stall in the queue at the worst possible moment. Swapping in the spare before the level reaches empty — a two-minute job with no tools — keeps the queue moving and avoids a shelf of half-finished work.

How should the spare be stored if it may sit for months?

Keep the 006R01699 sealed in its box, stored flat or upright in a cool, dry cupboard away from radiators and direct sunlight. Toner is a fine powder sealed inside the cartridge; it does not dry out like ink, so a spare bought ahead keeps perfectly well until the day it is needed.

What warranty and shipping terms apply to it?

Every 006R01699 is covered by a one-year warranty with free returns for a full year, as set out on our shipping and returns page. Orders are dispatched from warehouses in IL, PA, GA and CA, and support runs Monday to Friday, 9 AM–5 PM CST. You can browse the wider range on the Xerox toner page.
